I have a number of Toshiba video components, including my main TV, and I've been pretty satisfied with them.

What do you consider reasonable and how big are you looking? Some people consider a Runco projector reasonable, and other people consider a 13" emerson reasonable.

For the upper end of normal TV's (not flat tube/silver plastic), go Toshiba

You've got 3 options:

1) The most economical method. CostCo stores sell very affordable 19", 20", 25", 27", 32" and 36" TVs. Brands range from Goldstar to Panasonic to Toshiba to Sony.

2) The best bang for your buck according to word of mouth, local television dealers and Consumer Reports is the Toshiba Cinema Series. My 27" Toshiba Cinema Series has a great picture, 2 tuner PIP, great remote, inputs galore and was only $499.

3) Just give this thread a few hours then the Sony Wega zealots will come in storm, they're almost as bad as the Plextor people. If you can afford it get a Sony Wega.

To help us suggest the right TV for you, what is your budget, what size are you looking for, what features are a must have?

I love my semi-Old School Sony non-WEGA 27" Trinitron, it was only like $350 or so.

Ross - the idea was, by not providing concrete parameters, I would get a broader range of replies...

...anyway, I have an old 25" no frills number in my living room right now and I'd really like to upgrade, but I'm a poor just-out-of-college kid and can't really even think about blowing $2k on a 16:9 HDTV or anything like that.

I'd probably want to stay in the 27" - 32" range, but I don't see my wife letting me spend more than $500 on a tv. :(
