What Really Slows Windows Down

Not very surprising that intrusive security solutions have the most effect. They hook just about every I/O channel in the system.
 
Awesome list! I am overtly anti-Symantec/McAfee at my shop. I sell Panda, KAV, and also install AVG free for people whose systems are too obsolete for a modern AV, or who can't afford one.

I have to question the testing methodology as while I'm not surprised by the 2006 results, I'm very surprised by the 2007 results. The startup delay was one of the biggest improvements... I'll hold on commenting more until he updates again with the 2008 results.
