The meteor strike basically pushed them over the edge and finished them off. The only surviving dinosaurs evolved into birds.

Roughly 40% of the dinosaurs associated with the letter R and the same amount associated with the letter D but they refused to work together and instead worked against each other. Eventually the D dinosaurs got a majority and passed universal healthcare for all dinosaurs but the R dinosaurs weren't going to take that lying down. So the R dinosaurs, after regaining a majority, figured the best way to sabotage the D dinosaurs was to make their program seem horrible. The R dinosaurs purposely ran up the costs of the program until it collapsed and no more dinosaurs had healthcare.
