Since my employer is slowly dropping spousal/child support (from year to year) and straight out told us that they are actually saving money on total Healthcare expenses....even though it has been our best year for the company....

How nice.

Anyways, wondering what people are getting from "affordable health care quotes".

NOTE: I'm finding that you cannot get any subsidies from Government if your current employer plan is under 9% of your income. Fun Fun Fun

To cover my wife I'm getting the following options (4 choices in total hehe):

Monthly Deductable Annual out of pocket Max
$685.39 $4600 $10000
$755.22 $5000 $10400
$682.30 $5000 $10400
$674.63 $5000 $10400

For whatever it's worth, she is 34.

Wondering what others are getting. I'm going to stick with my employer coverage for my wife as it's about $550 a month with $2500 deductible. Last year it was $200 less a month.....

Our TOTAL out of pocket Health expenses are going from $7500 (this year) to $11000 in 2014.

OUCH

It's about $51 for my plan:

Monthly Deductable Annual out of pocket Max
$51 $2700 $5000

They also match the first $1,200 you put in an HSA so the numbers are slightly misleading.

Fees - about $1200 annually (~$100/month, including optical and teeth)
Deductible - $2k

Most preventative stuff is covered.

i pay $0 for my plan as it is employer covered and it covers my wife and family (dont have kids yet).

it is a high deductible plan however, but my employer puts money into an HSA for me as well.

the deductible for me + wife/family is $2600. my employer puts $130/mo into my HSA. i put $100/mo into it as well just to cover anything that could go over. i probably wouldn't put any money into it if i did not have asthma and wasn't on regular medication for it.

but $100/mo pretax is what i contribute to my healthcare.

I've been looking into third-party health insurances as well. My work's insurance is very expensive and doesn't cover very much, but at least it includes dental & vision. Blue Cross Blue Shield looks the best so far, since you can go pretty much anywhere in the country and they'll recognize it. I feel like I need a PhD to figure this stuff out. Same with taxes, I almost wish they'd just take out an even 30% from your paycheck or something so that you wouldn't have to deal with it :p

I pay my own and I'm being dropped 12/31.

$492/mo, $10K deductible, family of 3.

Checked a site linked in a thread here and the exchange will cost me $658/mo, $12.5K deductible.

Called several local independent agents and haven't had any luck getting quotes. I was referred to http://www.healthaviator.com/. I'll post back if I have any luck there.

You are lucky, my plan doesn't cover dental OR vision

Dear HealthAviator Customer,

Due to technical challenges experienced with connectivity to the Federal Government site, the enrollment process for Marketplace (Exchange) insurance purchases will not be available until late November. To avoid an uncertain and confusing user experience, we encourage our customers to review insurance coverage options today and return to our site after December 1, 2013 to finalize enrollment elections.

Individuals interested in purchasing an insurance policy off of the Exchange can proceed with enrollment with effective dates no further than 45 days from today. Please contact our customer service center with questions at 1-888-809-9097, or initiate an online chat with one of our knowledgeable customer service representatives. Thank you.

Yeah that's what is difficult - the dental is very good, the vision is so-so, but at least it has them both. But the healthcare is garbage. But I've gotten quotes elsewhere and everything else is $200/mo extra minimum, which is pretty high.

That's the feeling I get, so much for "affordable".

But at the same time, this was all expected. Whenever Government gets involved it turns into complete nightmare.

And let's not forget that Government works for Corps before people.

Truth is, entire healthcare thing will implode at some point. They are simply pretending that they are doing something about it, or care....when in reality they are just sucking more money out of people before the inevitable happens.

Nothing new

Dental and vision are relatively cheap. Some employers add it in because it's less expensive than lowering deductibles and copays.

The government is trying to make the insurance system explode. That's why they created a system that relies on young and healthy people to support the unhealthy - but then allowed children to stay on their parent's plan until age 26.

They want everyone on Medicaid, so that at election time, they can tell you how the R's are going to take away your health care.

OUCH

9 times out of 10 If an employer partially subsidizes spouse/family coverage it will be cheaper than private insurance or the exchange insurance(unless you get a subsidy).

Its 9 out of 10 because I know there are some shitty employer subsidized plans out there. Like my wife's, who is a teacher. For her to add me to what would be the equivalent of a bronze plan, it would cost over $400(just for me). To add me to the equivalent of the gold plan would cost ~$1100/month(just for me). For both of us to be on a plan similar to the gold plan it would cost us $1475. For half that we can get platinum level plan on the private market(not exchanges), or a 3rd of that for gold.

Obamacare didnt do anything to make costs lower, they just handed out "subsidies" to those who voted for them to make it seem cheaper.

Yeep, and once you realize that Subsidies = your tax money.....you quickly figure out that you are not getting ANY savings hehe.

Mind you, I don't even qualify for Subsidies due to 9% employer coverage clause......

At this point, I'm all for Social healthcare. It's completely FUBAR and there is an issue in every simple area of the sector.

Let it explode. Sooner the better.

It's FUBAR because the government keeps fucking with it. If they'd get out of the way, people could choose what they want to buy.

I am 21. Currently have SelectHeath coverage at 230 USD per month for 5,000 USD deductable. In-network preventive care is covered 100%, but not sure if out of network. Switching to a new plan, it will be 270 USD per month with 6,000 USD.
