once again going for quiet htpc as my goal with gaming a distant second. I am going to try to do this one a lot cheaper then the intel build.

  1. 4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 32 GB of system memory (Note 1)
  2. Dual channel memory architecture
  3. Support for DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1866/1600/1333/1066 MHz memory modules (Note 2)
(Please refer "Memory Support List" for more information.)

Taken from Gigabyte. Basically any DDR3 1.5v stick rated at the above speeds will work. If you are still unsure, if you go to the Gigabyte website it will have an approved memory vendor list which'll list "approved dimms".

I know officially Sandy Bridge only supports upto to 1333. I had a quick google but I could not find out officially what AMD's FX supports.

thanks I am trying to build a close in performance close in noise system to my intel build. I have been looking at a few other sticks.

I may use these above or the corsair.

I read a lot of heated discussion on this board about amd or intel for cpus so I felt building an amd system would give me a way to really compare the difference. So far I have just about everything I need for the amd build. Was just stuck with a ram choice.
