What ram will do 214 mhz?

I have a 1.6A that will do 2550. I want to keep the mem settings at 4/3, so the memory will be around 214/428. I would like to do the fastest settings, but at that speed, would be happy with lower settings. Does anybody have memory that does this? I am thinking of getting some Samsung PC2700, Kingmax PC3200, or Corsair PC3000.

I don't know about 214 Mhz, but my Samsung 2700 is running at 208.5 Mhz

My 1.6a would only do 139 Mhz, so I' running the memory at 6:4 @ 208.5 Mhz

It did require me to up the memory voltage by .1 volts, but it's rock solid stable at that speed.

You'd be better off running the CPU a little slower & keeping the memory as fast as possible.
Like the CPU at 2480 Mhz with memory @ 207 Mhz.

I got excellent performance (Sandra score of 3023) at DEFAULT DIMM voltage with a 256m stick of Mushkin 3200 (Samsung chips under the heat spreader). The Corsair 3000 that I have would only run well up to app. 206mhz. The Kingmax 3200, which I've only tried with a 2.26B CPU will run at its rated speed and CAS timings. It won't do any better though. I have an original Samsung stick that I haven't had a chance to test yet. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for all of the replies, that would be great if you could test out your Samsung and reply when your done. I am really looking at that stuff because of the price/quality.

In a round-up I read on a German site a while back, they got the Corsair PC3000 up to 220MHz with fastest timings, and similar other RAM (Samsung, I think) to that speed with relatively fast timings.

Hi...Sorry it took me so long. To answer your question...YES! the Samsung will run at 214mhz. It's doing it now at default voltage with a 1.55 Vcore on the 1.6A CPU. Timings at 2.5/2/2/5. Maybe I'll have time later to push the timing a bit.

Thats what I was hoping for. Those timings would be just fine for running at 214 mhz. Thanks for replying so quickly.

my Corsair XMS2700 is running 155fsb 3:4 413DDR on only 2.5v @ Cas 2.5/3/3/7. im about to try higher 160fsb 3:4 426DDR. (again)

My Corsair XMS3200 has hit 214 on the slowest settings (2.5-3-3-7) at 2.7V, mem scores of 3264/3263 with a 2.26B. That was after trying two different modules in all 3 slots on a BD7II.

Well, since Samsung is so much cheaper than the rest and I should be able to at least do 200/400 with it, I think I will go with that. Should I get the 512 MB stick or 2 - 256 MB sticks. And also, does the 512 ram have 4 banks. I have the 845 chipset and it only allows for 4 banks of memory, so that would max it out. I don't think I would want more than 512 before I upgrade this system, but its still nice to know. Anyone?

Get (1) 512 meg stick of Samsung original PC2700. Mine does DDR400 fine. Never really tried to push it much farther, but it may do a little more. I'm pretty sure its 2 banks.

let us know how your system"feels", after dropping the cpu mhz to gain higher mem speeds..
when i was experimenting w/ the 132 to 133 mhz range and a 1.6a, naturally the 132 3/4 mem ratio
made my sys "feel faster" than 133 1/1 mem... im not talking about benchmarking, i am talking about feel.
my I.E. boards.for example, seemed to come up faster.

it feels the same either way.

as for benches...
166fsb 1:1 is faster than 150fsb 3:4
170fsb 1:1 is faster than 155fsb 3:4

interesting!
i am 100% scsi, no ide channels ,
i dunno if it makes a difference.
i would love to run at 169 mhz, and 3/4 mem

this means i need ddr that can run @225mhz,
and i need to know what the jummper settings are for
169 mhz.
corsair3200 seems to be the only ticket right now

or wait to see how the b533vm pans out.
