I haven't really bought any new memory since there was DDR266... ehhe...
but I plan on building a new system soon with the Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard and was wondering what memory I should get for it..

I see various memory from PC2100 to PC3200 nowadays... any help is much appreciated.

For price/performance: TwinMos PC3200 with WinBond chips.
For strict performance: Kingston HyperX PC3500

I don't include Corsair because their prices are higher than the TwinMos and the Kingston, and don't seem to be any better. Although 90% of the people that reply to this thread will probably go with Corsair.

Corsair is the best... it will always run more stable in an overclock (at least in all my experience so far.) Crucial is nice and realiable with a great price but you would want to skip their PC2700 line b/c they've had issues with it not workin in nForce2 boards. Their PC3200 line is great though and I would highly recommend it if you don't intend to OC and want some fast, cheap, and stable ram.

Yeah, I currently use Crucial PC2100 on my current system, but I wasn't sure if their PC3200 was good. As you stated, I heard bad things about their PC2700 with nForce2 boards as well. I have no intentions of overclocking this new system. Thanks for the input.

Yeah, get some of their PC3200 then if you want the value that Crucial is known for. Corsair XMS might give a little better performance due to latency stuff, but you'll never notice.

As for Samsung, not my favorite. I think I used some cheap EDO from them or something a while back, nothing to rave about, nothing to complain about. As for buying from nicx... ? I get most of my stuff from Newegg and Googlegear and Crucial memory from, well, Crucial.

Oh yeah, depending on how much ram you want in your computer.... you might want to buy two chips, rather than one, to take advantage of the dual channel that the A7N8X offers.

If you don't know how much ram you want to end up with... *shrug* but if you only wanted 512... you might want to look into getting two sticks of 256 instead.

so the crucial 3200 does not have the compadibility issues that the pc 2700 has with Nforce2?
