What RAM to buy?

JayBirdJay

The Asrock 4CoreDual SATAII arrived yesterday.

Other parts are on the way:

e4500 2.2GHz C2D
WD2500AASK 250GB SATA Hard Drive
Plaxtor-810SA SATA DVD Burner

Now the question is what RAM to buy that will be best for overclocking without any major moding of the motherboard?

Thanks for any info!

Buy two for 4G
$94

One 4G pair.
$99 after rebate.

I'd definitely say one of those; for the PRICE it's crazy not
to get 4GB of RAM.

As for performance, these run at good timings at 400 MHz
stock speed. Your CPU has a high enough multiplier
that you do NOT need any faster RAM than 400MHz
to max out the CPU well before the RAM hits its limit
(I read the CPU you have has x11 somewhere,
though even at x9 it'd be MORE than sufficient).

I bought both of those the other day, so I put my money
where my mouth is.

Here's an insanely cheap CPU cooler:

$7 after rebate.

It's HUGE (over the top),
it's HEAVY (be careful leaning on it / whacking it),
it's a pain in the butt to install,
it won't fit in really small cases, but a decent mid-tower should be fine,
and for anywhere near $7 you cannot find any cooler that'll touch its cooling performance.

I use one and it's working ok on a Q6600.

I am a newbe. I created a topic when all a really wanted to do was respond in the Asrock 4CoreDual SATA message board.

Sorry 🙁

JayBird,

Didn't mean to upset you, just to tell you that you had 2 posts going. So sorry back at you... Next time if you double post and realize it, just do an "Edit" and erase everything on one of them then put a small note like, "Sorry, double posted." Everyone has done it...

Do you feel like you got your answer? That's the important thing...

Noel

Sorry I am new here, bought 4CoreDual-SATA2 too, it accepts 4gb of DDR2? I thought this MB accepted in the maximum 2gb...
