What ram to buy for Gigabyte motherboard?

I'm going to be upgrading to 2 gigs of fast memory for my gigabyte K8NS pro (754) motherboard but Gigabytes supported memory list doesn't list G-skill. Patriot, OCZ or any of the performance brands that i want to purchase from newegg. Last time i bought Kingston 1gb chips and had all sorts of compatability issues. Can anyone out there using Gigabyte motherboards recommend any of these brands?
 
I have a friend who has a Gigabyte K8N-Pro Sli board (socket 939) He currently runs (4) 1gig sticks of OCZ platinum dual channel memory and has no trouble at all..
