officially your board only supports pc1600 or pc2100

your mobo will also support higher, it just wont be running at the advertised speed

Yup, the DDR rating is more like a highest achievable speed rating for that particular stick of memory. So a PC3000 stick is officially supported up to 185mhz, while a PC2700 is officially supported only up to 166mhz. Running a PC3000 stick at 133mhz/266DDR should theoretically have the same performance as running a PC2100 stick stock at 133mhz/266DDR, so if you want to save some money just get the standard PC2100 memory if you don't plan on overclocking.

they might have more layers of board (can't see it thro the DDR, but they are 6 layers, and some 2100 has only 4), most have better cooling system. But most important, they are better chips (faster) and test to run at the higher speed.
Your 2100 chips will not go 3000.
there are more to just what speed, try the CL2 setting for your 2100. it will give you better result than just the speed.

ok well i got the 512mb of pc2700 and my mobo is running it at 266mhz, so i guess my mobo can only run 266mhz? so then can i put back in my 384mb of pc2100 and it will work fine with the pc2700, both running at 266mhz?
