They don't use any mail protocol. Your mail sits on their server in a mail spool dir and their webmail thingie accesses it and shows it to you. You can't get their mail via POP without paying, and I don't think they support IMAP at all.

Depends on the service. They could use IMAP or POP internally and just not let you get to the IMAP server from the Internet, it would definately simplify things if they ever decided to offer IMAP or POP service as a paid extra.
