What programs to run on a new computer?

I'll be assembling my new computer tomorrow and once I get everything up and running, I want to test it under all extreme conditions for stability. Also, I will not be overclocking at all.

I know I will run Memtest for the RAM
What program should I run to 'heat up' the cpu and/or any other components by being used so I can make sure the temps are reasonable?
For the video card should I just run 3DMark or something else as well?

Also, using anything to stress the CPU, how long should I run it for to be sure there aren't any problems? I will have a 2.8C so I will have hyper threading so should I run two instances of the cpu utilization program as in one on each logical cpu? If so, how do I set a program to its own logical cpu?

PI Fast, Memtest, 3D Mark 2001.
CPU, mem, vid card respectively

Have a go at running 2 SETI's (one for each "processor"), that should also do the CPU.

If you run SETI to test your system make sure you run the CLI, not the GUI.
You can D/L a benchmark work unit from Ars & run it, then you can compare your times with other computers to see how well yours does.
If you use a Windows OS, D/L SETI Driver to control the client & set the "Max Processes" to "2". That will take advantage of the HTing.
