I am using direct connect. i am only gettin 3/4 mb/s.. i figure that cant be right because i have the 100mb linksys nics. i also have a 4port linksys cable/dsl router.

is this normal speed? If not what program should i be using. thanks in advance

btw the 2 computers im transferin between are 98se and win2k pro sp2

100 Mb/sec. (b=bit) is 12.5MB/sec. B=Byte a clean smooth 100TX network will yields transfers of 7-10 MB/sec. So your are some what on the low side.

You can Map the HDs on the computers, and use any copy move command with Win Explorer or similar programs.

I use Ontrack PowerDesk4 (Explorer+); it simplifies the mapping, and has a lot of enhancements.

The entry-level program is free:

PowerDesk® 4 Free version.
