what program to stability test my oc

i have ati tool and furmark.

ati tool doesn't heat up my card as well as furmark.

how long should i run ati tool for general stability in all games?
how long for furmark?

my 8800gt doesn't go above 43c with either of those programs.

Furmark is the best one out there as far as I can tell. It generates good heat and crashes drivers and cards when they're pushed too hard. What better way to test is there? It's also got the artifact checker built into it.

how will furmark's "stability test" (no benchmark) tell me if there are artifacts or "instabilities" with my 8800gt's overclock? how sill it warn me?

well, if i push my vram any harder, i'll will start seeing artifacts. If i push the core too much, I lose wideo. So, that's how I tell? I didn't know furmark can check for artifacts, I don't see the option though.

Furmark is kinda overkill though. If you hit the wall with furmark, you can just leave the settings as they are and it'll probably be stable enough for gaming.

I would agree. I was gaming for a few months without any issues at all at settings that aren't Furmark stable. Formark is a great test, but it it hammers the GPU more than any game I've come across.

It doesn't really "warn" you per se, but if you let it run for a few minutes and watch the screen, artifacts become very obvious.

so i can't just set the program to run and go afk? i need to be constantly watching the screen while this thing tests??? lol

what if i dont get errors for 10 minutes i'd fall asleep! lol
watching stability tests are hella boring haha

anyway, yes, furmark has an option for "stability test" but i dont see how it'd warn me if my OC is unstable...
