winword? I am wondering if I have a virus that is not detected yet by my virus detection software. When I open cntrol/alt/delete, I see winword running. I remember seeing mention of a virus that invoked wordpad.exe and converted it to wordpad.com and then did nasty things like copy your address book and other data and senbd it out on the web.

I can't find anything in my books that would lead me to any info on winword unless it is manually started.

Anybody care to comment?

Some of the Brymer32 virus versions used WinWord and Notepad for text/scripting and were enabled in Startup. Try this site for info one the different versions, you can also download the free Innoculate Anti-Virus software and install it.

Thanks for the headsup. I will now contact McAfee about this virus name and get some more info. Some dork from my local charterpipeline came over Fri night and used this computer to go to a site to get a speed test program and then he informs me he got a virus from the same site. SOB!:|

I will speak to his boss tomorrow. He gets a virus from the site and then sends my PC to it. Its full of porn links and re directs. I'm sure thats what has happened.
