What program identifies the codec needed to play a certain video file?

edit: answered my own question. Some uber-1337 d00ds say it "Causes Problems" yet no one seems to document what, exactly, these problems are. Nimo worked fine for me. Whatev.

Nimo caused me a great deal of trouble as it installed a whole bunch of filters that caused conflicts when encoding DiVX. If you do choose to go the Nimo route, you have to be selective in what you choose to install to avoid problems, which defeats the purpose of a codec pack.
