What program do you use to fix a stuck pixel on an LCD monitor?

A friend of mine says she has a green pixel on her laptop she just bought yesterday. I told her it's probably just stuck and there is software you can use to try to help fix it.

What should I use?

Stuck?
Return the PC, get it repaired with a new screen?

You can't return a laptop because it has 1 stuck or dead pixel.

you know, this thread reminds me: I used to be scared to purchase LCDs because I've heard all these horror stories of stuck pixels being common and what-not. Guess it's mainly propaganda from the pro-CRT camp as I've had possession of over a dozen different LCD screens from laptop screens to desktop monitors to televison screens and I've come into contact with countless more and I've yet to ever see a stuck pixel. Must be very rare

I am using a laptop that came with 3 stuck pixels.

Luckily located in an area where they are not heavily noticible except when working with a white background

Return it. Don't do it for dead pixel reason. Do something terrible, like corrupt the registry. Take it in with a "Duh, I don't know what's wrong" attitude. Tell them you know nothing about computers and it will cost $300 for someone to fix it, etc. etc. Tell them you just want a new one because school started and I have an assignment due and....

OR change the background to a matching green!

My 2 samsung LCDs and my Compaq laptop are dead pixel free.

However.

My 30" LCD tv has a *dead* pixel.
Four DS-lites I've purchased all have a single stuck pixel ( i have 3 kids.)
And my PSP had a *dead* pixel.

I have a stuck Pexil on my 17" NEC monitor it happened about 4 months after I bought it, stubid think when the screen goes black it shows up as Blue but no big deal.

Thought I just saw with the CD enclosed with the October issue of Maximum PC a utility to fix pixels. I looked at it real quick so I'm not totally sure it is what I think it is.

A stuck pixel can be converted to a dead pixel by zapping it with a laser. Manufacturers do it; I don't know if there's a home solution.

Did it work for you?
I tried UDPixel which is linked on that page. It makes a little 5x5 pixel square of flashing colors you can drag on top of your stuck pixel. I left it going with my lcd on for around 8 hours last night. My stuck red pixel is still stuck red. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

Did you do the thing with the pressure on the screen and turning it on/off?

I tried that once and it didn't work. I'll admit that I was being pretty gentle. I'm afraid I'll scuff the screen somehow.
