I'm asking for the peeps who have portable MP3 players that support WMA (and use it to save space). I tried to convert some MP3's to WMA using stream anywhere but some of the songs had some bad cracks or pops or weird noices after the convertion (96Kbps). I know this isnt a problem withmy player cause the songs also have to same bad noices when played with winap.

Anyway, I'm guessing this might just be stream anywhere (hopwfully). So what do you guys use to convert MP3 to WMA?

if you get PLus! for WinXP it has an MP3 converter, i had over 6000 songs it ran great, all the files were converted and i saved half the space, i had all my mp3s in 256 CBR i converted to wma 192kbs and 60 gigs went to 30 gigs i took the reverse double blindfolded pepsi challenge ( with nice headphones and nice speakers) and couldnt hear the difference so i erased my mp3s.

it took about 40 hours to convert all the songs which is roughly 24 seconds a song (low priority process) on my P4 1.5 Ghz. It didnt bug check once, i also made qa set in 96kbps to put on my ipaq which turned out to be very good quality and about 11 GB for 6k songs.

glad your giving it a try and not discounting it just because its an MS product. the beta encoder made some pops when encoding but the final version of the encoder works like a champ.

I dont hate MS at all.i use a lot of their programs. :)

I tried with the nullsoft WMA plug in and it still had the skips/pops (same happened in media player 8). I downloaded other encorders, but they only do wav to wma. I dont want to convert allt he mp3's to wav then to wma again (too lazy and time consuming). :)

More input needed. So far, the songs that actually work are pretty good. I didn't notice any difference between 128kb MP3 and 96Kb Wma. I only have 40 megs per disk to spare. (Using Iomega hipzip).

XP plus? I'll see. I'd rather not though. Just to encode some songs. :)
