What program can make 1 minute sound bytes out of full mp3s

Ok, I want to make a power hour cd, where I will have 60 songs, each a minute long. Are there any freeware programs that will take say a 4 minute mp3 and allow me to choose a start and end point out of that song and make a new mp3? Thanks in advance.
 
Thanks for those links. I am also looking for a program that will chop a mp3 so i can get a 3 second sound file from the source to use as my incoming e-mail sound

Does Clean from.Pinnacle perfrom this? or is there any others out there.

Why don't you just use one of the programs that they listed? mp3directcut and audacity are both very good and free.
