Long term, enchanting.

And mainly it depends on if you want to make money of vendors or off auctioning. If you want to just get cash off vendors, skinning, fishing, and mining.

Leather and herbs sell well at the auction house. So does linen and other fabrics that you get off of mobs. Enchanting may be great later on, but early in the game you will end up burning up a lot of magic items that you could sell for more. Of course if this is a secondary character, then that doesn't matter much I suppose, so you could disenchant everything and then sell the stuff you get from disenchanting.

I think though that pretty soon the AH prices are going to stablalize and you may not make so much on lower level stuff that you collect. You'll need to be selling the high end stuff to make any money.

Skinning and Mining, people pay alot for raw materials.

You can get linen cloth, wool cloth, silk cloth, mageweave cloth, etc. off Humanoids of the appropiate levels.

That's three ways to make alot of money easily. Do not sell to vendors, you will get more than 2x vendor price at the Auction House, especially with buy out.

Technically Blizzard owns everything but you can charge for the time. Just search on eBay for world of warcraft or wow.

Go to a Mining Trainer, and there's an Auction House in Ogrimmar and Stormwind.

That stuff should all sell for more to players at auction.

Probably the easiest thing to do is gathering. Mining/skinning or Herbalism. Demand for leather and metal bars is high though.

If I was doing it over again I'd just go dual gathering. The crafting professions that actually make items are only really good if you're spending more time on it and have a number of guild people piping raw materials to you so that you can become one of the highest skill level people fast. I could easily afford all the gear I make if I just sold all these raw materials, or I could have a guild person make the stuff if I gave him raw materials.

But alas, I don't want my 220 skill in Leatherworking to go away...

does gold divide up into smaller dividends? I mean 10 gold sounds like you can buy max 10 items...

are there smaller denominations?

Gold, silver, and copper is what I've seen.

100 copper = 1 silver
100 silver = 1 gold.

Ditto except i am a priest.

To answer Schad: skinning, mining and herbalism are all good money makers certainly. Though I do see more skins in the AH than anything else usually so perhaps one of the others.

Oh and anyone considering using ebay read wow homepage please, before you DIE :frown:

Ditto again. 34 rogue and I can't seem to keep more than 15g. I make a lot of money, but I've been spending it all on raising my crafting/secondary skills that I've negelcted for a while. Cooking, first aid, and leatherworking are all around 190 now.

To Schad: I think the answer is to take two gathering professions (mining, skinning, or herbalism). The crafting professions (leatherworking, blacksmithing, alchemy, tailoring, enchanting) are all money sinks.

And about ebay: I'm glad they're banning the ebay sellers. I personally don't have much of a problem buying/selling in-game goods for real cash, however, I think it brings an unwanted element to the game. When you're playing for money your interest in the fun/community aspect of the game goes out the window real quick. I play for fun, I don't want to have share a server with people that will do anything to get ahead because they're playing for money.

i make all my money auctioning stuff in IF

iridescent pearls, moss agate etc. fetch about 1g each

i don't make any money off of leathworking and skinning though because i use all my leather just to skillup

at about 190 leathworking 260 skinning

the only moneymaking profession i can see is mining / skinning or maybe enchanting

a stack of iron bars can go for about 5g at the AH

stacks of heavy leather are about 1g

so if you dont have any manufacturing skills you can make a whole lot of money

even spending more than i make from leatherworking i have about 25 g in the bank

but i rarely buy anything other than skills and maybe a weapon from time to time at the AH

The temptation to buy that game after playing the beta is just horrible. I've already warned my gf that I'm thinking about getting it.

They're worth 4gold max imo

it really varies depending on the server

most of the population is probably below 30

and i don't even see mageweave for auction on our server yet

i'm sure the prices will drop eventually however

but right now i can assure that on my server (sargeras) you can get 5g's for it

Far and away the best money makers are skinning and mining. Enchanting does not overcome the loss of having to disenchant the items you could have sold. Its ok, but if you want to make the most money, do the collection professions.

Selling World of Warcraft In-Game Content for Real Money
It has come to our attention that certain individuals are selling Blizzard's in-game property for cash on auction sites such as eBay and on personal websites. The World of Warcraft Terms of Use clearly state that all of the content in World of Warcraft is the property of Blizzard, and Blizzard does not allow "in game" items to be sold for real money. Accordingly, Blizzard Entertainment will take any and all actions necessary to stop this behavior. Not only do we believe that it is illegal, but it also has the potential to damage the game economy and overall experience for the many thousands of others who play World of Warcraft for fun. In order to promote a fun and fair environment for all our customers, we are actively investigating those individuals who engage in this inappropriate activity and reserve the right to take legal action against these individuals to protect World of Warcraft for all those who "play by the rules." If you are found to be selling in-game property (such as coins, items, or characters), for real money, you will lose your characters and accounts, and Blizzard Entertainment reserves its right to pursue legal action against you as well.
