What processors does the 8KHA+ support?

I just fried the processor on my 8KHA+ so I need a new one to replace it. I'm thinking of getting a Barton 2500+ but I'm not sure if the EPOX 8KHA+ supports it.

I have one, and thats a negative unless you want to overclock the motherboard. It's based on the KT266A VIA chipset, and 133FSB is the highest official speed it will go.

I think the XP 2400+ 266FSB version is your max. Newegg has the retail version for $85.

But if I remember right, the 8kha did 166 pretty easily. I had the next board, the 8k3a, and it did 200+ no problem.

With the latest BIOS XP 2600+ (FSB 266MHZ) is supported, good luck trying to find a XP 2600+ (266 FSB) since they are very hard to find, your best bet is a XP 2400+ (266MHZ) and overclock it.

Okay, if I overclocked the FSB to 166 MHz will the 8KHA+ theoretically have support for the Bartons? Or could you atleast list the processors that the 8KHA+ theoretically could support?

I think I looked at that and it was outdated because it showed it only supported the lowest of the T-breds. I'll take a look again.

Best advice I can give you is you should probably phone Epox, they should be able to tell you,I`m pretty sure XP 2600+ (266fsb) is max.

Don't bother with the barton on that motherboard - waste of money. Grab a factory unlocked thoroughbred B that overclocks to 2GHz+ with a decent cooler. You can find these B's in 1700 form (dirt cheap), but if you want to go risk free get one from a site similar to overclockers.co.uk which will guarantee you'll get a factory unlocked B rather than a locked CPU.

With a factory unlocked 1700/1800 XP, you can change the multiplier and run whatever FSB you want. With good RAM and cooling, you should hit at least 150 FSB easily and end up with a 2Ghz+ CPU. Make sure the PSU is up to the task though - I'd say 200W COMBINED minimum allowing a good dose of amps on the 5v rail. 🙂
