what processor WILL NOT bottleneck a 5900 oced to a 5900 ultra?

my bro ordered a bfg 5900 that supposedly overclocks to a 5900 U. whats the slowest AMD and intel CPU that will NOT bottleneck the card?

It completely depends on the game. Quake 3 will be CPU limited. Call of Duty will not.

I would think that a barton 2500 up to 3200 would be fine for the 5900, as for intel the 2.4 would be fine as well. I think you could go a touch lower but dont really thik you would want to.

Well, at least someone in this thread wasn't just talking horsesh*t! Yeah, I agree, except I think that a non-overclocked 2.6C wouldn't be held back by the card.

yeah most new games end up getting limited by the vid card before the cpu
in my opinion anything over 3ghz would yeild little gain
maybe the 2.6 to 3.0ghz range for the P4 would be appropriate
and say maybe 2400+ to 3200+ for the athlon i think any athlon under 2ghz might be too little to not be the bottleneck
