We have equipment here at work that test cellular phones. After testing is done, the machine will print out the test results via an HP laserjet 1100/1000.
The problem is that i can't change the quality to econo mode directly via the printer controls. :disgust: There is no way to change printer settings via the test equipment as far as i can tell.
so we end up with 600 dpi test results that just eat toner. I'd like to replace these printers with a much lower cost solution.
We don't really care about the quality of the printout, as long as you can read them. But we tried some dot matrix printers and found them too slow.
Im guessing i'll go for a cheap laser with the ability to set really low quality settings to save toner via built in printer controls. Can anyone reccommend anything?
I'm interested in total cost of ownership. Am i better off with fast dot matrix printers? How bout bubble jet? Or thermal printers?
From what i understand, laser is the cheapest way to go considering long term per page costs.
Thanks!!
