What price on a 7850 will be consider a good deal?

At the current price of $250-260 it already is a good deal. And no, good deals aren't entirely subjective. Performance/price is a good objective metric
 
Considering Nvidia doesn't have any midrange 28nm cards coming any time soon the prices probably won't be dropping much until the card is EOL.
 
I got mine for $230 which is a good deal IMO. I haven't seen them much cheaper than that. Mine came with a lousy reference cooler, though. The Asus one for $250 is decent as well.
 
I got the DCu II for 260, which was the only place available then. Amazon has it for 250 and Tigerdirect for 254 but both dont have any inventory.

Well, it wouldn't be wrong to buy one of these... 😛. With the power consumption of a 7850, you could get zero noise at load even with a big overclock.

I'm considering buying that along with an EVGA reference GTX670 for my next upgrade. I may even replace my 560 Ti cooler with that first
 
$280 for a 7870 with free game isn't bad. It's not a hot deal either, though, so I don't see the rush unless you dislike overclocking.

it is most certainly a hot deal compared to the typical $350 7870 price. its only 20-30 bucks more than people are paying for a 7850.
 
$350 for a 7870 is a total joke when you can get a similarly performing 7850 for so much less if you are willing to oc. Clock for clock a 7850 is less than 10% behind a 7870, more like 5% actually. And you can find 7850s on sale sometimes for less than 250. Even if you are comparing 280 vs 250, I don't know if I'd pay the $30 extra.

If you don't oc then the $280 7870 is more attractive.
 
I overclocked my xfx 7850 to the same specs as their black edition and then some. Their double dissipation cooling is pretty badass. I use a profile to set fan at 65%, didn't get over 60c on full load

People always trash the 7870 but you have to remember it overclock just as well as the 7850. A 1300 core 7870 pulls 9K in 3dmark11
 
$60 for an aftermarket GPU cooler is a bit insane. It might not even fit next generation either. CPU i can see (i've have an IFX-14 last 3 intel generations, still using it in my new Ivy). Just put the $60 toward a better card or one that has a better cooler already (usually only a few bucks more and it will be OCed).

Well, that's exactly what I did was to put a Twin Turbo II onto a $230 7850 and I'm very happy with the card now.

The Asus card is a better deal at $250 though.

You need to keep in mind that it's a PITA to install aftermarket GPU cooling.

4 screws, 4 spacers and memory heatsinks isn't a pita my friend.
