What Power Supply for my new rig? PART 2

OK, unfortunately I spent over a week trying to find a power supply for my new setup, thinking i was getting the X1800XT. BUT, my friend gave me his X850XT for free (done alot of work for him) and apparently the X850XT will draw much less power than the X1800XT and is not SLI, so I think this would make a big difference on the recommended PSU. I basically came to the realization that I wont be able to do much gaming over the next couple of years so the X850XT should be fine for me.

Here is my complete setup:

Centurion 5
Asus A8R-MVP
AMD 3500+ Venice
2 gb corsair XMS
1 raptor
2 extra hard drives
2 optical drives
soundblaster audigy 2 platinum

At the high end, the enermax/seasonic 400W models seem to be great. They run 75-80 bucks

As far as some of the cheaper ones go i have had these recommendations

http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=PS-EN5240G

http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=PS-FS400GN

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104954

http://www.extremeoverclocking.com/reviews/cases/Sunbeamtech_NUUO_550W_2.html

Let me know what you guys think. As always, spending 50 bucks as opposed to 80 would definitely be desired, but not if its going to come with a substantial sacrifice in quality. Thanks ahead of time.

I like FSP, but not the other two brands, you could also look at the 400 w Enermax Liberty

The Seasonic above is also nice, and if you are into things being quiet, well, that is what seasonic does ;)

I think the FSP AX450 is a good choice, and it can't be beat for $50. I ordered this PSU for a friend's system, but haven't got around to hooking it up yet.

You got my answers via PM.

The Enhance ENP-5240G or 5150G if you want/need that much.
The GLN Fortron for quiet.
The AX & ATX Fortrons are being farmed out for building=bad thing.
I class Thermaltake PSUs with thier fans=wishful thinking.
Seasonic is expensive but good.

I swear we've been over this before... deja vu?

Edit:

Galvanized--you mean FSP is starting to contract their work out? :brokenheart:

Bah. So much for a good budget brand...

I've finally settled on two PSUs for my systems, Enermax and Seasonic. There too many consequences to worry about in PSUs. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
So my recommended PSUs will be mine from now on, and occasionally a Fortron 450W for an inexpensive build.
Good building.......

oh and one more thing trevor, my local frys has this thermaltake 500W Purepower, which looks as though it has very similar specs to the forton model you recommended, for 15 bucks after a huge rebate. Its specs look very similar, but galvanized said he will never recommend a thermaltake. Just wanted to know what you think. here is the link to the thermaltake model

Nice choice Spitz!

FSP has a track record that is very good!

Thermaltake on the other hand is trying very hard to rectify isues they have had in the past!!

Both PSU`s are ok!!

Amongst those 2 PSU`s for peace of mind I would go with FSP!!

Young RC, you got my answer via PM. I will send you the link conferming this later as I
really don't save all I read. Do know where it is though. I just pruned back PMs from 900 to
100, so most of ours are gone. :D

I do want full details on your anodizing project if/when it's in progress.
