The story is definitely shens. Agreed.

You want me to take some more pics as proof? Now knowing what it is I'd be feeling as skeptic as you are now, but I can assure you I did find these plants. Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed now? I'm not so sure notifying the authorities is such a good idea considering it's on my land.

The authorities aren't going to press charges on you if you notify them you found pot growing in the woods on your property. Do you honestly think they'd assume you were stupid enough to plant marijuana in the wild, then call the police on yourself? They'll show up, confiscate it and burn it.

My uncle works for the forestry department in Northern California. A few years back he was working some trails around Arcata / Humboldt County and he came across a large growth of marijuana. He had his team pull it all out, throw it in a pile and make a bonfire. I believe his exact words were "there were some happy campers there that night..."

What if the person that planted the cannabis finds them missing and comes to my house to get reparations for what has been done. I'm not willing to risk bodily harm over this. Do the police offer protection from this sort of thing?

From what stupidity?

If this isn't shens, then I bet it's somebody close thats growing it. Those plants have been tended and prunned they weren't just left to grow, if you want to find out who's growing it stake out the spot and I'm sure your farmer will show up.

they are not ready any way...they need to bud....if there are male plants, kill them before they pollinate any females...nice seedless buds of greatness await you come fall...those cool crisp evenings bring out the lathering white crystals that when heated make the most wonderful temporary pleasantries...be kind and treat them well.

google to find out how to tell sex...

enjoy your find. and yeah..do not be a mophead and fuckit all up. we r watching you

Sure as hell looks like pot to me, structure of the plant, everything. Hey, I do live in KY - that stuff loves it here and grows wild.

No flowers though. :(

-edit-
second picture is more telling. Look at the leaves coming from the main stalk and between main branches from the same intersection. That should be a good indication on identification.

how big is the patch? if small, then i wouldn't worry about it, large maybe

I my opinion, it shouldn't be illegal in the first place. being illegal causes more problems than if it were legal

When it gets light tomorrow I'm gonna attempt to count how many there are, but from what I remember there was at least 100+ individual plants. I stood in the middle and I was literally surrounded.

I would either call the cops or leave it alone. Prolly shouldnt go down there again never know if you might run into the farmers, they might not like you knowing they have plants growing there.

They're ferns, useless plants.

They're also not native to your area, so you probably should remove them to prevent the forest from being taken over by an invasive species of non-native plant.

I'll send you a PM listing where you can send these ferns after you dig them up.

I am not sure what plants they are. But I get off at 5. Maybe we can dry out a leaf or two then do a thorough inspection.

The way I heard that story was that during the bonfire, a flock of birds flew overhead and through the smoke from the fire. The result was that not a turn was left unstoned.

check if there female.

if there female, there on your property, take them bring them side , throw some cfls or hids in a room with a fan, buy some nutes and take care of those babies.

if correctly taken care of, those plants can yield you an easy 2k each, but i just keep it and smoke it for myself :p

That's not as minor as I thought the situation was. Damn. That's a lot of plants. Somebody's trying to get serious with this little operation of theirs. That many plants is hard to hide from overhead chopper flights. hmmm.

Do you get many, if any, chopper flights in your area? If not, surprised people don't just plant them in their back yard. Nobody could really get away with that in my area because there are random chopper flights that would spot a massive plantation of weed.

In Ohio? WTF?

Hmm. This is actually a serious situation, I didn't realize there were 100+. Someone has a lot of money invested in this.

If this is really on your property, I would be worried because IF law enforcement finds it, they WILL come after you. That's probably why the people planted it there, they have no connection to the property. Or they thought it was public land.

I suppose the proper thing to do would be to contact the authorities. I doubt they would try and charge you, since you're the one that found it and are concerned its on your property.

If you do not feel comfortable with that, just simply chop each plant off at the base and carry them all away. This is what law enforcement does. They will think they were busted, and never come back.

Edit: There is no way the people that are doing the op will come after you for cutting their shit down, unless they see you doing it perhaps or something. If they come back to all their plants being gone, especially in a methodical way(cutting every one off at the base), they will assume they were busted.
