Sure if u want to, Ross. your pms dont work so if you need me msg me on aim. Im going to put it in an IFRAME. Can you edit the templates or do you have to download themes to change the colors and crap.

I've used gallery but I'm sick of them cutting corners. It does a lot of things very well but it cuts corners on standards and makes it very difficult to package with php/mysql CMS's. I'm going to give coppermine a try thanks to this thread for giving me motivation.

I can probably install it tonight.

If you join my forum my PM's work there 🙂 Otherwise it's AIM.

As for your other questions, I have no idea.

Gallery is fantastic software, and needs only PHP 4 or 5 to run. However, the versions I've run (1.3.x) are terrible for multi-user support.

Coppermine, while not offering as clean an interface as the one I love in Gallery, requires a MySQL database but is in the end a whole lot more robust. Of course you can customize the look/feel at your discretion.

done.

I use xcGallery, which is just coppermine (dunno which version) made for the Xoops CMS. There's alot of things I like about it and then there's alot of things I like about some others (like gallery and 4images).

It'll be interesting to see what Gallery v2 will feature. Hopefully somekind of theme/template support to make things not-ugly.

I wrote two pretty simple PHP pages that does what I need it to. I've got a directory called "photography" on my server and in that directory, I have a directory for each album I want to display and on my main photography page, all I do is read the directory names and print those out and link them. Then I just read through the thumbnail directories and get the HTML to display the thumbnails that link to the full-size images. That sounds really complicated since I'm sure I did a horrible job explaining it but it's actually pretty simple and uses only PHP to work.

Did they ever add batch uploading to Coppermine? I know you used to be able to do it as an Admin, but everyone else was forced to upload pictures one at a time. Which SUCKS!

coppermine rules 🙂

and anubis.. didn't know you had that.. saves me the trouble of doing it too 🙂 kakhi_top is my favorite... but.. there's a few tweaks I need to do to it to fit what I want.

yea i just did that last week, mabye i shoudl stickie that someplace but i have no idea where

I tried Coppermine and after a couple of days I would get a "can't write to database" error. This was installed with Fantastico and so I deleted it and reinstalled and then again a couple days later it stopped working again. Very frustrating.

I am working with Gallery now and it seems very stable but it has a bunch of weird print options. I may have to try Coppermine or something else again. 🙁
