Drugs might be a lot lower than alcohol. I don't see a connection between being poor and drug use. I see more of an education connection. Ignorant, superstitious, fearful people who can't earn as much as others.

lets see.

I just got back from doing grocery shopping at Walmart. 4 people checked out ahead of me and 3 of them used Bridge Cards. 2 of the people using Bridge Cards also bought alcohol.

So 66%

use = abuse imho

I couldn't care less if someone smokes the occasional joint, or drinks a few cheap beers on Friday night. Their life's already shitty, and I won't begrudge them a couple hours of happiness a few dollars will buy. Sanctimonious douchebaggery is one of the small reasons this country sucks. Fat fucks smoke cigars, and drink whisky while denying "common" people cigarettes and weed. Most people consume drugs on a daily basis, and the legal status is irrelevant. I've said before that legal/illegal aren't synonyms for right/wrong. It's a difference people need to recognize, and by recognizing it, will bring clarity to society, and the "right" choices will be made when the time comes.

Wasn't it Florida that first made drug testing mandatory? Then, discovered that the testing cost more money than they saved by rejecting what turned out to be a very small percentage? (And the testing company was closely linked to a highly ranking politician.)

So, the drug use has been measured once - the answer is "not as high as you think, not as high as politicians want you to think."

I think much of ATOT would agree on this, except the "cheap beers" part. Blasphemy! Anything less than a hard to find microbrew or expensive import isn't worth drinking. 😛 😉

I have no idea, nor does anyone else on this forum. Stupid poll IMO. Polls are good for measuring collective opinion, not so much for objective fact.

Read up on the effect of anchoring too.

They "found out"? People were telling them it would from the moment it was suggested.

Seems hard to believe when you personally see so many welfare people abusing drugs. i see some sit on the porch and smoke weed all day long. Personally, i do not know anyone who has witnessed a person on welfare who did not take drugs illegally and drink the booze. But that's a limited experience, i'm sure someone here knows at least 1 foodstamp junkie who doesn't take anything

It doesn't matter. When I give money away, I don't really care what people do with it. There are requirements welfare recipients meet to get said money, but its not like anyone can tell you how to spend your money. Thats not money then if that is the case.

People given money don't use it the way you wanted them to, what a surprise!!! Its something I've gotten over ooooo...... 10 years ago. The only money that gets spent the way I want it to be spent is the money in my account 🙂

I tell you what OP. You should fund the drug testing yourself and get back to us.

"Buy" and "consume regularly" are two different things. I imagine alot buy 40oz beers etc. once in awhile as they can afford it (I see alot of poor people buying such things), but I doubt they are stocking up 120 cans of coors light on welfare. Same with drugs.
