What percentage of cats drool?

This is when, the little attention whores that they are, you cave into. And, even in the most obnoxious way that you can think of, give them full on attention. Thinking that will get them to go away.

For instance, my yellow/gold cat, Jupiter, *never* wanted to be held. He was nearly feral. So when he started wanting attention ... denoted by piercing my thigh with his front claws ... and my grabbing his tail wore off, and my banging on the desk wore off, and my grabbing his body & wooling him wore off, when he stopped being scared of the stoopid & obnoxious cocker spaniel wore off ... I started grabbing him up AND holding him on his back and tightly so he couldn't move ... well that has worn off also.

He does not drool so much as there are candles hanging from his mouth (we have one cat that does do that), but my hands (as they hold his head tightly) are wet with his saliva. I might add that he is purring all thru this. Sometime he purrs so intensely that he starts coughing. I'll also add that as I hold him on his back, his front feet are kneading my arm ... actually opening the paw exposing his 1/2" long claws and then closing them down on my arm. Not piercing the skin, just short of.

But, I am wondering and relating this to the cats I grew up with which I do not ever remember drooling at all or even a moist lip, is this wetness a common thing??????

My two drool, but my previous cat didn't. The tom actually drips, but the girl keeps it in her mouth. Cats do that when they're very happy. It's a regression from kittenhood I believe, and is a nursing reflex.

When Killer does that he sticks his tongue out a little bit. And leaks.
Ginger doesn't droool except when she's on catnip.
Sammy drools like crazy.

I have 2 cats. 1 drools and 1 does not. Therefore, 50% is the answer.

One of our neighbors has a cat that wanders to my door regularly. I found it really odd that everytime I sat down to pet him, he starts drooling like no other.

Ichinisan and I had multiple generations of beige cats when we were growing up and one male was the only one that drooled. Any time you gave him enough attention to climbed in your lap, the drooling started. You start squeeze-rubbing his ears and expect a soaked lap.

Out of the 5 cats that I have had, only one drooled. He drool only when he was really content and purring like crazy. he was kind of feral too.

Never had a cat that drooled, although I've come across a few that did. Cats just don't drool as much as dogs. Dogs are disgusting.

What the ...

I think I've noticed that from my tom. I don't know wth it is, but it smells like ass, and not quite like shit. Nothing is visible, but the smell seems to hang around. Even the cats notice it, and it puzzles them also :^D

I suspect it's some kind of musk/scenting thing, but I don't know :^/

This is partially my fault.

I complained that we never really have any new threads here anymore.
