5.56% to those ticket people who are slow as hell
4.44% for everyone else who works in an airport
6.892% to the pilot
4.71849% to the co-pilot
7.442% to the flight attendents
6.7% to the free alcohol for first class
50% for fuel
11.598% to the security guards
1% for their damn wands
1.34951% for those peanuts

More true than one would think, what with bonuses, stock options, and overly generous retirement plans.
Then, the remainder: 40% to fuel, 10% to the employees who actually do the real work, that makes 100%. Then add 2-3% for misc. and VOILA, Airline can then file a loss!
Sorta like the year that Chrysler paid it's Executives around $3.5 Billion in bonuses, then claimed a $2 billion+ loss and ask the Federal Government to bail them out!

interesting....
I was wondering if the airport figures high into the total cost, since airports these days are so ungodly messy and inefficient, but I guess they probably make most of the cost up by having all those stinkin shops inside.

btw anecdote: when I was at frankfurt main airport last summer, they had a sex shop inside the airport complete with little booths you could go into to "watch a movie" on this interactive VOD machine. I think they charged more than 1 Euro per minute.

Is that a joke? Commercial airline pilots get paid great money, especially when you consider their schedule isn't exactly overwelming.

As a national mortgage company employee...they often 'work' a little less than a 40 hour work week over the course of a year. Add that in to time away from home though and it's not so cool.

All that and an average transcon profits only around $500.
