United nations were made for a reason.
If there are multiple parties that oppose war then we should not go to war..
flame on.
But i think each one of you are just cocky...and feel unbeatable.
even if we do not get attacked immediately after this war...
we have further hurt our relations with the rest of the world.




now let me step outside the country for a minute...and look in. and look at it from other countries eyes.

I sure know i gunna get flamed for this....but for cryin out loud.....negotiations are made for reasons....even if we drop bombs for 2 weeks and win a war....we actually lost yet again...how you may ask? by Showing the world our careless actions...Bullies we are....and that we dont honor their opinions.

That is pretty stupid to say. The world could unite and stop us but that won't happen because we are doing the right thing.

The problem with the UN is the fact that since there are so many voices NOTHING EVER gets done. You act like this is the first time the US has had to fix a problem the UN couldn't solve because no one could agree to do anything.

Its not our fault that France doesnt want to lose its cash cow. If 3 people sign a deal saying the one who holds his breath the longest wins a dollar from each and after you hold your breath the longest the other two say "well maybe we should think about what we agreed to" does that make it right? No. (okay so its not like we 'won') but we are in the right and everyone knows it.

The thing that cracks me up is that everyone thinks that if we dont go to war that somehow Iraq will just do nothing. We can be peaceful all we want, but we cannot make other countires be peaceful.

I am fully aware that The UN all decided that iraq should disarm...but time must be given.
 
I didn't hear all you anti-US people whining when America had to go into kosovo, haiti and Somalia because the UN couldn't agree on what to do while thousands were dying. The UN ceased its usefulness years ago, all that is remaining is a shell for 3rd world countries to show off their pathetic political skills.

 
I don't understand yet why we get upset at other countries for violating UN policy when we have to violate UN policy to stop them.

sorry i was still in high school and had to television...no radio was raised in poverty i didnt find it to be my duty to go asking zillions of questions about matters i have no clue about.

Before the huge push really ramped up, weren't the French, Germans and Russians talking about implementing a 120 day plan under 1441? I *think* I remember hearing that - the rush for war may have drowned it out though?

So no one can do anything outside the united nations? The U.N. has failed its purpose this time, the two parties are too far apart to reach a negotiated compromise. It happens quite a lot, actually. Especially when the issues are war. And its member nations have always reserved the right to disagree with the U.N. and take appropriate action. Remeber France and its atomic/nuclear testing?

The US isn't alone in this action by a long shot, there is just no overall consensus. The French are also making a political power play during the situation which has hampered both sides ability to compromise. The final summary is that our president feels that Iraq is a threat and has decided it must be dealt with. The views and information from other nations have not affected that belief.
 
What's the purpose of the United Nations if it has no teeth?

Maybe we should just put Saddam in "time out" to consider what he's done.

Time has been given and then some. Does anybody really think Saddam will do anything more than play more shell games given an extra year or two? Iraq has ignored U.N. resolutions almost the entire time, only coming into agreement when force is threatened. If we back off again, why would they pay any attention to more regulations?

 
Most experts believe France is hiding illegal weapons for oil trades with iraq..we'll see very soon why france is so adamant against the war.
 
I agree. The UN can't enforce any of its resolutions. I'm glad the US is altrustic. Once we've bombed the crap out of the rag-heads, we'll go on to that other middle eastern country that admits it has a huge stockpile of nuclear weapons and continues (despite much time) to not comply to UN resolutions.
