What part is this?

Good day everyone,
I am trying to figure out what this part is called. Every time I open/close the door, a horrible noise comes from here. Almost like it sticks a little bit, then when it releases it makes the noise. I want to say its some sort of pin assembly, but dont know for sure. I do know the vertical 'pin' thingee on the rigt side seems loose. I can tap it with a hammer and re-seat it, but it just comes loose again. Maybe I just need to grease it?

Thanx for your time!

Grease it up really well and the noise will stop. There is a lot of rust, though.

I use lithium grease on my doors.

Its called a door check......probably about $20.00 at the dealer.....go buy one, it takes about 15 minutes to install...you only need to remove the door panel, and then unbolt it from inside, and those 2 bolts on the outside, install the new one and your done..no more noise..🙂

EDIT: you can buy them online here for $44.00 ..thats more than I had figured..

they are About halfway down the page

Thank you so much for the replies

I'll try lithium grease first. It isn't rusty, it just looks like it in the pic.
If that doesn't do the trick, I'll purchase one via the link provided. It'll also give me a good reason to finally reconnect/replace the speaker that doesn't work anymore either on that side.

Thanx again!

grease definitely would solve this 90% of the time...it's a terrible racket when you have it.

Yes it's the door check.

It serves two functions.

1. It keeps the door from opening too much.
2. It puts "Pivots" in the door so you can open it and it will stay open.

The door check in my altima went bad. I took it out and replaced it.
