i painted the kitchen light tan 5 years ago with semi gloss finish.
to cover some stains now, i touched up spots with the same paint yet they look totally different from the other areas.

is there a paint color and type of finish that i can paint again and again without looking so obvious?

Not sure, the more glossy the paint though, the more the defects are going to show. That said, it is my understanding that you usually want semi-gloss in kitchens and bathrooms, especially the kitchens (easier to wipe down).

i just get the kitchen and bath paint. Ive never had to touch anything up since ive never had the need. Ive heard the only paint that really touches up well is flat. the glossier it is, the more touchups will stand out.

Paint fades over time and it's hard to match even if it's coming out of the same can. I would think the color would have more to do with it than the sheen of the paint.
