what pad for polishing metal?

I want to polish my severely scratched/dirty exhaust. My wife hated the 'burnt' tips and I was able to remove them via a Dremel but now I have the PC so need pad and polish recommendations, thanks.

By the way, the burnt tips could probably be brought back to normal with some pickling paste.
