I'm a little confused about the differences btwn these two sockets...Does LGA 775 only support DDR2 memory or can it use regular DDR? Is PCIe compatability one of the differences or is that not even a factor yet?

For LGA 775, DDR1 or DDR2 support depends on the chipset; I know 925X is DDR2 only, but the 915 series has chipsets for both. PCIe's a non-issue right now--AGP cards are just fine. If you are insistent on the 3.2 Prescott, get the S478, but for around the same money you should be able to get an A64 3400+, which will mop the floor with that P4 and should overclock somewhat respectably too.

Ok. If I go with the 478 what would be a good mobo? I'm gonna have 2 GB of regular DDR 3200 ram, two SATA hard drives, 2 optical drives, an audigy card and maybe a 9800pro. The rig is for audio/video editing plus desktop use...I'm not a gamer and I'm not gonna do any overclocking. Any suggestions?

I am using an Asus P4P800 with my 2.8 prescott and it works great, never had any problems with it.
