What other side effects are there from increasing the voltage to the CPU besides heat?

Besides increasing the amount of heat produced, are there any other effects caused by increasing the voltage? The reason I ask is that it's nice and cold outside. I've got my window open to decrease the ambient temp in my room so that I can see how much speed I can really get from my CPU. My case temp and room temp are 64 degrees right now. In a few hours, it should get down into the fifties. The highest speed I've reached before is 864 at 1.85 volts. I'd like to break 900 if possible. Thanks for any help you can offer. :)

Electro-migration, I think it's called. Physical damage over time to the transistors of the CPU through more voltage than normal.

Well, do you think running a few benchmarks at a higher voltage would be enough to kill a cpu? I'm not planning on running the cpu at this speed, I just want to see how much I can get out of it.

That depends on how much you are planning to increase the voltage. If it's just by a little, then it shouldn't be a problem, but if you're gonna try something like 2.5v, then you should probably plan on buying a new processor in the near future.. :)

electromigration is a slow process and it will take a long time for the cpu to become dead by that.(by that time you will probably using the 10 ghz cpu from intel)
If not cooled properly though, the cpu can get fried in a couple of minutes!
