what other products can be used as laptop sleeves?

I'm thinking of just buying a sheet of Neoprene and sewing three sides together to make a laptop sleeve ouot of it. seems like most laptop sleeves out these won't even fit my damn laptop. I want a snug, tight fit for my 15" monitor laptop

If you sew your own you can put extra padding in. I hate how cases never have any additional padding on the bottom... I tend to plop my bags and cases down on the ground carelessly. So I put about an inch of foam from a hard drive box on the bottom of my bag.

not to mention the thickness of a laptop determines the final size too... ugh....

am i the only one who thinks all these sleeves are overpriced? if I go on eBay I can see a bunch under $5, and that price range seems more realistic for a piece of neoprene sewn together.
