Well,

I just finished Halo. What's next?

I've heard good things about:

DOA3
Project Gotham Racing

Any other games of Halo's caliber?

Also, I've heard that Metal Gear Solid X was supposed to be released by the end of 2001?

Thanks!

What was wrong with it? Bought a GC instead?

i too also liked DOA3 over halo. to me, halo is a pc game and i didnt like the feel of it on a console. DOA3 on the other hand is a console game, cant really imagine fighting games on pc at all.

DOA3 is fun, but its more or less DOA2 with better graphics and free move side-stepping ala Soul Calibur. If you have friends over a lot, DOA3 is lots of fun, but if you usually play solo, DOA3 can get pretty boring pretty quick.

NHL2002 is fun if you like hockey games, but I guess the same can be said with all of the EA Sports games.

I personally liked Amped a lot, but you have to like the type of game that it is (which is freestyle snowboarding ... No racing like SSX). Multiplayer pretty much stinks in Amped, but its a fun single player game. It does require a bit of practice to get the game down... You can't just pick it up and play it right away.

I've heard good things about Azurik too, but you have to like the Sierra games of yesterday that require you to spend hours wandering around looking for a certain item.

So far though there isn't any other game that could be considered "killer app" status for the X-Box. The system has only been out for a month though, so give it time and I'm sure there will be other killer apps coming... Some may even catch you by surprise since there's a lot of X-Box titles which are brand new series and look like they have a lot of potential.

Unreal Championship, Blood Wake, Brute Force, Crash Bandicoot X, MGSX, Morrowind, House of Dead 3, Panzer Dragoon, Project Ego, Ridge Racer VI, plus several other Exclusives. Plus all the other multiplatform games(GTA3, Tony Hawk 3, all the sports games, Bond, etc)

Blood Wake might still be coming for Christmas. I definitely think that has the potential to be a true winner.

Other than that I've been looking at Baman: Vengeance (more for Batman fans), SSX Tricky, and NHL 2002 (for things available now or by the end of the year)
If you don't have Max Payne for the PC, definitely get the X-Box version. I like the control scheme for Obi Wan, but when I look at footage of it, it reminds me too much of the Phantom Menace game (I had the pleasure (sarcasm) of actually finishing that game).

<< Which is the best football game? Madden, Fever, or 2k2 >>

Never played 2k2 but i can pretty safely say that madden is better than Fever. I really get INTO the game when playing madden but fever seems almost too cartoon-like for me to enjoy.

BTW i'm comparing the X-box Fever to a PS2 Madden.

How about this new game New Legends? An old friend of mine is one of the developers for this game. He works for The company (Infinite Machine), which is made up of former Lucas Arts employees. It has a release date of 1/21/2002.

Here's a trailer for it (scroll down to New Legends).

Check it out!

I personally like Project Gotham the best out of all of the release games, but it's not a game for people who don't want to spend time learning how to race. This game requires a lot more precision and patience than GT3 especially for Arcade challenge where you have to manuver your car through cones during the race while not hitting anything and finishing a set amount of laps within the time limit. The first couple are average difficulty, but the Very Hard level goes beyond just being "Very Hard". Definately not a game for someone who doesn't like racing games.

Also, erikiksaz, I don't know what girls you know, but most of them in my area love DOA3 more than the guys. The guys would rather play Capcom vs SNK 2, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, or Last Blade 2 than DOA3. If they play a 3D fighting game it's mostly Virtua Fighter 3 (4 when PS2 version comes out) or Tech Romancer. More of the girls like DOA because "it's cute" and "Ein is hot" among other things. Plus it's an easy fighter to pick up and learn just like DOA 2 was.

<< Which is the best football game?

NFL 2k2
>>

I'll agree here. If Sega manages to have the same responsive controls that the dreamcast had, NFL2k2 is going to be unbeatable. But, there are two groups of people in the world, I think. Those that like 2k2 and those that like Madden. I'm not casting shots here, but I'm a 2k2 fan and like it much better. For me, I don't have a good sense of control when playing Madden. However, I do like the Madden stat machine better, so I'm hoping that Sega can work on this now that it's selling for 3 systems and has to compete with more offerings.

Other good games:

SSX Tricky is really fun. I didn't think I'd like but got a copy (PS2) a few weeks ago and played it non stop for a couple weeks. Very fun racing boards, and enough of a trick system to keep it fun.

People are calling the Xbox, "The system that plays Halo"

Haha, let's hope some new games come out... Soon.

Just out of curiosity... how many killer games did PS2 have in its first month... oh wait... no one could get one to see them... that was Sony's plan all along... release very few that way they can stall its users until the "good" games come out. Also remember that PS2 came out first in Japan and therefore had a headstart on game development. When it came out in the US however it still lacked any good games.

Anyway, my point is that we need to give Xbox a chance... dont just start burning it... games will come... it just takes patience. Hell, one could call GC the "system that plays super smash bros. melee"

That's the bad thing about Halo on the Xbox. (besides it's being a PC game soon)

That the Xbox may already have had it's best game ever.

All I can say is that they had better have done huge amounts of work on that game, because when I played a demo of it a few months back it was LAME.

I'm still pissed that Xbox is getting all the good (incl. Jet Grind Radio) sequels. I'll wait it out for about 8 months and see who stands out as the victor.
