what other benefits Playstation 2 would bring me????

well Im planning to buy a Playstation 2, but Im having doubts on spending big money for it, what other benefits and features Playstation 2 would give me other than playing games and watching DVD movies? cause I really want to spend money on a thing that is really worth it

Get one, you wont be disappointed. I hardly ever play games on my PC anymore since getting my PS2.

yup. that's all it does. i mean like, what do you expect? it's not going to talk to you or anything or give you advice. it's just for games, dvds and fun. but you will have lots and lots of fun with the system. the games are just amazing. and you don't have to pay extra to play dvds. and all ps1 games work on it too.

its a gaming console....... You can also use it to play audio cds. What else would you expect from a gaming console? You will also benefit from lack of sleep and an increased reflex and a growth in the muscle tissues in your fingers....

but seriously, its for gaming, period.

Is there any way to play MP3s on one? With the dreamcast there was a program you could burn to a disc to allow you to read mp3, and that would make it worthwhile to me

I have a friend who has a PS2, but I don´t like it, Come on, men!!!, spend that money on a KT266A mobo and a thunderbird, you won´t be dissapointed, and it will be very expensive, because of the games and the difficulties about using a mod-chip. I Hate consoles, they are only for paying games, and, as i really enjoy gaming, it has something that I don´t like, for example, the resolution and their graphics: for example: Play GTA3 in a playstation 2 and see their graphics, they are horribles. Gran Tirismo 3 has brilliant graphics, but the cars doesen´t broke after a crash (that´s not a simulator). I don´t like arcades!!.
Well, there are a lot of disadvantages using a console to play, and yhe most important is that you can´t play Operation Flashpoint!!
