I have a spare parts computer right now just set up on a shelf running Knoppix and doing folding. The machine isn't doing any thing else. I think I read somewhere on the F@H forums that Linux was slightly slower at folding? Would i be better off running XP pro or 2000 even? Also is x64 going to give me any improvement over 32 bit?

I don't think the OS will make that big a difference.

x64 doesn't give F@H any improvement either.

To get a little better ppd:

If you have broadband run with download > 5 MB = Yes. That will allow you to get bonus WUs.

It seems that currently it is better to run without the -advmethods flag.
