Please lmk what you guys think the best OS would be for this setup. Thanks

I am going to use a slocket with it and that might let me overclock but not really sure. The system wil be used for surfing, word, excel, and light games of Counter-Strike. I can only use this windows on this box because it will be for my parents 😀

If your parents have never used a computer (yes, people like this still exist) before Linux might be better for them. They can do surfing, spreadsheets, docs and even CS. Learning Linux from scratch is a lot easier than learning it after getting stuck in the Windows mindset, and they won't have to worry about SirCam and the like.

If you have an older licensed Windows OS, I would say Win XP home, Amazon has an upgrade for like $60.
I think W2K, or Win XP should work.

No, stay away from Windows XP. That 366MHz Celeron just ain't gonna cut it, and I doubt that your Tyan board will overclock to 550 either. By all means, go with Windows 2000 Pro.

I'd say win98se because there are some apps and games that wont run on win2k and sometimes win2k drivers are hard to find for older hardware.
