What order to install drivers? (Win98se)

When doing reformat, reinstall what drivers s/b installed in what order? DX9, mobo or chipset drvs, gfx drvs. Does it matter. (I install NIC, Modem last)

Further, if you're upgrading drivers. Do you uninstall old ones first, or just install over top?

Thanks

I usually installed the drivers in the following order when I used win98:
Graphics card
Sound Card
Peripherals (printers, etc.)
Network card
any others

I arrived at this sequence by trial and error: installing the drivers in any other sequence would give me the dear ol' blue screen...

I use win2000 now, so I never really was able to find out if this was the recommended order or not. IMO, whatever works for you, stick with it.

I usually install the upgrade after uninstalling the old drivers (and choose "remove all")

OS> network card driver(so I can get on the internet for the rest of the drivers)> Microsoft for internet explorer 6(so pages that I'm going to get drivers on don't crash because of the old version of IE)> Video(so I can see web pages clearly)> Chipset drivers> Sound> Modem> DirectX 9> The rest of the windows updates.
