Corsair Dominator Series 4GB (4 x 1GB) DDR2-1066 PC2 8500

Rosewill 750 Watt PSupply

Ive got VISTA 32-BIT and 64BIT as well as any version of XP...which should i install on this PC...???

Thanks!

Vista 64 bit is the obvious choice with the amount of Ram you have. Make certain you get the latest drivers from Creative for your sound card. I believe X-Fi owners can also download Creative's alchemy for free to enable Direct Sound support in Vista.

Edit:

How do you plan on using the computer and what software will you be running? This information will help in determining which OS is best in your situation.

Depends on what your bios delegates to the system and can vary on differing systems. Normally it is somewhere around 3 Gigs that are available on a 32 bit system. If all your software is well supported in Vista, then you will be better off in the long run just going with 64 bit Vista to make full use of your hardware.

I have a question? What do you use Nero for and what version is it? Nero is really bloated, adds tons of stuff that is not easy to get rid of. Depending on what you do, you may be better off using something else to complete the task you use Nero for now. There is a lot of freeware available like Imgburn that can be used in place of Nero and play better with your system.

hmm...nero i use for burnin multipurpose stuf..audio cds/dvds..video cds/dvds..data disks.. juz want one program to do a multipurpose task for me...thats why bud
Thx for ur replies 😀

CDburnerXP pro will do all of that and is free. It also does not contain all the bloat of nero and will cleanly uninstall unlike nero.

oh ya..if u had any experience with audio cables...what audio cable should i use to connect my Creative 7.1 X-Fi 24-bit Audio Sound card to my Sony Dream system...(home theatre)..? i bought a DVI/HDMI cable for connecting the nvidia 8600 GT to the TV (sony bravia xdr)..thats gd..rite?

okay..if that works with Vista..ill download that then..cool! =)
i think 32-bit wud be good enuff..i mean..i honestly dont think id multi task to the extent that id exceed 3 gigs..plus if it has more support as of now..ill switch to 64 later..??

As long as you have a retail version, that is perfectly fine. Ultimate comes with both DVD's but you can order a 64 bit DVD for Home Premium for a small fee from Microsoft. (I think it is 10 bucks)

I never owned and X-Fi so that is out of range of my capabilities. Keep checking back and I am sure some one will come along and help you with that.

go with 64bit, it's $120 for an OEM copy and you'll save yourself the upgrade in the future, only you'll spend less. I use 64 bit, and that way you'll use all your system performance options, and allow you an interface with better programs in the future.
