What oil filter to get?

need one for my 9-5 want to put synthetic back in it, when i had it fixed they put GTX back in it, i want to put Mobil 1 back. so what filter do you guys reccomend?
 
It's not going to kill you to run 3000 miles with dinosaur oil. Honestly, you're not going to harm the engine in the least. Especially since it's a 5-year-old car that probably got dino oil its whole life.
 
whatever you do...don't buy FRAM. Absolute garbage.

I prefer Mobil1 filters, yes they are more expensive but its alot cheaper than your motor dieing.
 
i dont want to run dino oil in it however. just because of the bad PCV on the car and the possibility of sludge which Syn. is less suceptible too. also, 3000k miles is going to be a long time from now, and mostly all the car will be doing is small driving down at school. and id say ill put on maybe 1000 miles in 3-4 months with two 300 mile+ drives so i dont want to have to change the oil at school, and syn. will last longer, and be better overall.

damnit, what stuff do you guys reccomend for an interior car cleaner/protector for the vinyl/plastic?

Meguiar's #40. Never use Armorall. Bleh.

And you should be using synthetic oil, since oil is used to cool your turbocharger.

hence why i want syn. i was runnin synth when the turbo blew, but i dunno if the old dino oil was sludgy or something and its not easy to drop the pan on the oil.

75k miles. i switched it then. but i honestly dont know what was in it prior to me having it, it could have been synth, it could have been dino oil.

Castrol GTX exceeds passenger car and light truck manufacturers' warranty requirements for the protection of gasoline and turbocharged engines where API SM, SL, SJ or SH is recommended. GTX grades are formulated to exceed the engine protection requirements of Ford ESE-M2C153-G and F, GM 6085M, Chrysler MS-6395M.

I use purolator Premium Plus and AMSOIL Synthetic on my engine. Turboed 4 banger like yours. If ym car runs well with those yours should too since mine goes under considerably more stress(~140hp/L, medium-short gearing, daily driver)

hThe amsoil is very expensive, but probably the best oil i've ever used and I make up for it by using the purolator filter which is cheap and yet still in the top quarter filtering wise.

You don't know what you're talking about.

All engine oil produced today will meet those requirements. They are basically worthless. They are minimum requirements that even the worst conventional should exceed.

However, just remember that not all synthetics are created the same. There conventional oils that are better than some synthetics.

In general, quality synthetic oil is not as suceptible to oil degredation as a conventional. That is a fact.
 
I donno why everyone is beating down on Fram... I mean seriously wtf, is this some voodoo? Other than the guy across the street or your mechanic, wehre in the world do people get these ideas. Essentally the construction is the same for most oil filters, as well as the membrane.
