What oil do you use?

What car and engine do you have, and what oil & filter do you run? How often do you change it?

Me, 2011 Chevy Cruze 1.4T, Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 w/ACDelco Cartridge filter. I change it when the Oil-life-monitor drops down to 20%, so about 8,000 miles.

The 2011 Equinox 3.0L SIDI V6 gets Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 as well, with a Purolator PureONE filter. That one gets changed when the OLM is 20% as well, usually about 4500-5000 miles.

Mobil 1 5w-30 for my 1998 Acura 3.5rl - I use Acura filters.
Chevron 10w-40 for 1972 Jaguar XJ6 4.2 - Here I do not know, the oil has not been changed by me when I acquired the car.

I have a 2011 Cruze Eco but I use Quaker State Ultimate 5W30 as it is cheaper but I am changing at about 6,000 miles.

Subaru Forester XT - Rotella T6 5w40 synthetic, OEM Subaru filter, every 3750ish
Toyota MR2 Turbo - Mobil1 10w30 synthetic, OEM Toyota filter, every 1500-3000ish (varies on how often I drive)
Cadillac CTS-V - haven't had to change it yet..whenever the oil monitor tells me. Mobil1 5w30 per spec, haven't decided on a filter yet.

My E46 M3 gets BMW/Castrol 10W60 TWS Synthetic Oil. This is essentially an adapted racing oil custom-made for the engine and it would be stupid, in my view, not to use it.

My E90 330i gets BMW's house-brand (I think it's made by Castrol) 5W30 "High Performance Full Synthetic Motor Oil." The car is still under warranty and that is what BMW wants me to use.

I use whatever's on sale at Autozone when I need it. I usually change it @~5000 miles, which is only a couple of months for me. I drive very conservatively and it's an old car ('98 Accord, 222K miles) so I'm not super picky about it.

2008 GC 5.7L

Mopar 5W-20 and Mopar filter, usually around the time the monitor says to change it, which is always too soon. I have the lifetime powertrain warranty, so I don't push the oil change intervals.

'08 Duratec 2.0 16V i4, I use Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5w-20 (mfg recommend synblend 5w-20), changed every 5k, manufacturer recommends up to 7k, but oil isn't that expensive compared to how much has you're using every 5k, so I err on the safe side. The oil is a little bit on the used side by 5k anyway.

To those that say conventional is fine, I agree that it is for the most part when changed regularly, though I've seen the insides of motors that have used conventional / regular changes their entire life, and they're definitely dirtier with more deposits and grime than those with only synthetic use. Does it matter in the big picture, probably not, but it makes me feel better 🙂

Mostly Royal Purple 5W-30 and Mobil One filters, although have used both Purolator PureOne and K&N filters. Used a Bosch filter once, too.
