Exactly 66.6%* of mine goes to me, which can only lead me to believe that taxes = evil

This is without any contributions or anything of the sort.

*rounded from 66.6355385%

Aboveboard or under the table?

Does it upset you that the taxes that you are not paying on your "under the table" transactions are underfunding the mighty war on drugs that could be solving this Mexican crisis? Do you feel guilty?

69%, but that's after 10% of it goes to my retirement savings. So more like 79%.

Hmm... that actually seems a bit high. Then again I'm in one of the lower tax brackets (even lower now that I'm married and my wife doesn't make much).

How much of that 33% is really taxs vs benifts and other items. Plus how much do you get back at the end of the year?

A lot of my check goes to TSP/401k, health insurance, retirement, etc...

Bout half because of taxes normally. Less goes into my pocket when I work a lot of overtime. OT pay should be tax exempt.

66.01% - that's with my retirement contribution and everything. My benefits costs haven't started coming out yet (should happen next paycheck), I expect it to be about 65.18% then...my benefits are very cheap. My actual total tax percent is 29.63%.

Without the 401k contribution it would be about 71.3%. Guessing because I'm not going to calculate exactly how the taxes would work out. I contribute 8% (company 6%).

54% after taxes, 401k, car/rent/health insurance + whatever else.

Then I lop of 20% of that into savings, so I can basically live off about 35-40% of my salary.

I work for tips, so the majority of my income is cash. My "paycheck" basically covers the tax of the claimed tips, so its usually taxed somewhere around 70-95%

33% federal tax
0% state income tax
fica and social security: another 3-4%

So . . . ~63%

Was 57% when I lived in Massachusetts.

Also, people on this board need to recognize that money going to a 401k and benefits (esp. the 401k) IS money that you "take home." It's just preallocated income.

Uh, I keep all of it.
And if some one tried to take it from me on the way home, I'll shoot them.
