What? NY Gas Prices / Price Gouging

With all these prices going up.....I have to ask like WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET A FREAKING RAISE ???
Oh yeah and EXXON's profits are up to their HIGHEST EVER.

Also I don't people realize how important it is to keep gas prices down still. Gas prices effect the base of the economy in the US. Everything relies on gas ...and mainly Bulk transportation and other ways of shipment. It affects prices of all goods eventually down the line. Shipping cost goes up because gas prices go up causing us all to pay more for all goods because all goods have to be delivered somewhere at sometime.

If that's gouging, then we've been getting gouged every week for more than a month out west here.

Anyway, much as it sucks, it is not gouging. Gas is a commodity and the price has been rapidly rising. Every retailer has been forced to raise their prices.
While I agree that this sucks, I find it odd that you think of this as "gouging". When the price of milk goes up at every store, do you call that gouging too? Or how about the fact that mortgage interest rates have gone up recently? The fact that they went from 5's to 6's in the past month, is that also gouging, and not market conditions?
Just curious...

Yes

Now they've gotten over the $2.00 mark, i bet we never see it go under

$2.00 again. I think this is something we're going to have to get used to 🙁

I just want it back to .79c a gallon. It was good there.

Last time I saw it that low was about 5 years ago at a Sprint gas station just outside of Jacksonville, NC

I'll be glad when I get my other motorcycle back in 3 weeks. Be nice to get 35mpg versus the 18 of my truck

I don't give a crap how high gas prices go I refuse to live like an ant in an ant hill in some big city. I like looking out my window in the morning and seeing wildlife.

I'm so sick of people bringing up California when they talk about gas prices.
Hello people, you have ridiculous emissions standards, and need special gas that only a couple refineries can produce.
Please, stfu. You do not represent the average demographic, stop treating it like you do.

As another new yorker, I too would call this price gouging. I realize gas is still cheaper here then it is in other parts of the country, but for say 8 months or so gas has held out in the upper $1.70 region to the mid $1.80s.

In the last week, gas went from $1.83 most place to $2.13... a 30 cent increase in which the brunt of it occured overnight, it's just been inching up. What was the big event that occured that spured this to happen in the matter of a few days, as opposed to climbing gradually?

Forgot to mention, this is in St. Lawrence county, the second poorest county in NY. I was also in Burlington Vermont the start and end of the week, and they got hit even worse then us, from $1.70 to $2.09
