Hey guys, I need some guidance. I am looking for a PCI express card that is in the Nvidia 7x lineup that is close in regards to the x800XL or better for around $225.00 .. any recommendations? (SLI not needed).

Thanks!

7900GT = One heck of a lot faster, especially when overclocked with better IQ/features, but in MOST cases will bust your budget @ +/- $270.

EXCEPT: http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant...OD&Product_Code=190593&AFFIL=rtpe&NR=1

7900GS = Considerably faster with better IQ/features & will pretty much nail your budget target @ +/-$200.

7600GT = Similar to slightly faster with better IQ/features & will come in under budget @ +/- $150-$170.

6800GT = Similar to slightly slower with better IQ/features, but not quite as good as the 7 seris cards, pricy @ +/- $200 and getting hard to find.

6800GS = Slightly slower, but with better IQ/features, again not as good as 7 cards, also bit pricy @ +/- $175 & getting harder to find.

I'd go for the 7900GS ... essentially its a cooler running 7800GT with faster clockspeeds.

EDIT: If you can snag that PNY 7900GT, I'd say thats the way to go at the moment!

Leadtek 7900GS for 199 dollars.

Offers S.M 3.0, HDR, silent cooler, faster performance in almost all games, monster OCer, uses less power and offers mroe IQ candy such as TRAA/SSAA.

Its one heck of a OCer as the GS can reach 600 on core and 1700 memory. (Stock is 450/1320). Thats a whopping 30% increase in performance on stock cooling AND voltage. Nice.

just because you mentioned X800XL... up here in canada you can get that card for $130CDN which is a steal if u ask me,

X800XL is really close to a 6800GT (the guy above said 6800GT is slower, however when I was helping someone make a purchase decision on AGP mind you, we found the 6800gt to be fasted in 3:1 cases)

anyways compared to the 7 series it would be around a 7600GT (this being faster) like he also stated.

But in the $220 range try to grab a 7900GT/X1800XT if you cant find those settle with a 7900GS

6800GT will definitely be faster in OpenGL, but likely slower in Dircet3D. So it depends on what you used to test it.
