I'm taking a logic test and there's this question:

Look for the pattern and then choose which pair of numbers comes next:

2 3 4 5 6 4 8

A. 9 10
B. 4 8
C. 10 4
D. 9 4
E. 8 9

Usually I can get these right off the bat, but I must be missing something here

Here's another one:

These words follow a logical progression:
FIRST
DEFY
BELLOW
CHINTZ
DEIST
FILMY
HORSY
KNOT
ABBOT
BEGIN

Which one of these comes next?

A. ABDOMEN
B. LOW
C. EDIBLE
D. LOYAL

question 3

Look at this series: 75, 65, 85, 55, __, 85, 35 , ...

What number should fill the blank?
A. 25
B. 45
C. 65
D. 85

question 4

These words follow a logical progression:
AFGHAN
INDEFINITELY
SYNOPSIS
STUPENDOUS
BURST

Which one of these words come next?
A. GLACIAL
B. COMPANION
C. RESCRIPT
D. HIJACKER

question 5

These words follow a logical progression:
CHINS
TRANCE
STAIN
CHIME
TUBA
PERK

Which one of these comes next?
A. GERMANE
B. EMBARGO
C. BANANA
D. NIGHTMARE

Question 6
361 -> 22
121 -> 14
81 ->12
25 -> X

What is the value of X?
A. 18
B. 12
C. 11
D. 10
E. 8

I think I'll have to go with this too. As far back as I can remember, I have sucked at finding patterns in number sequences much more complex than 2,4,6,8,10.

Edit: Ok, now I see it. It wasn't a numerical sequence, it was a symbolic one. I was thinking along the lines of something like (n+1)/(2n).

The only pattern I see is that the 6th number in the sequence is 2 below the 5th, and the 7th is 2 above the 5th. So I'd think A would be the right answer, as the pattern seems to be repeating itself.

Edit: Idiot much? Disregard... I suck at patterns.

D. Because 9 is the only number that repeats as a first number of all the choices(A & D) and 4 is the only number that repeats as the final number of all the choices (C & D). Not to mention, 9 & 4 are used heavily throughout all the choices as well. ;)

edit: I once aced an(optional) exam by just selecting answers based on the above. By optional meaning final grade is based on 2/3 exams and I had already aced the first 2. It's ironic because the professor probably did that to make the answers similar so that one cannot reduce the choices by elimination of obvious wrong answers. :p

Multiple choice test scammer! Tricky tricky.

Either B or D for now based on my first above post regarding repeating characters. I have not figured out how to differentiate the 2 apart though but def either B or D. :)

4 more questions! There were a bunch more that were much easier, for instance one had a series of words which contained sequential letters of the alphabet,
i.e.

Hijack
first
definitely etc.

what could come next? And only one word would have a sequential series in it.

Q4 is Hijacker, 3 consecutive letters
Q5 is Germane, each spells a country if you change one letter

Question 6 = E/8. Subtract 3 and square it to get the left side.

Damn I type slowly :(

question 3 is C since the others were already answered. The only one changing in that pattern is the 75 to 55 to 35. You can't infer a change to the others since the 85 remains constant and the 65 isn't shown. Unless there is something else I don't see.

Edit there is another it could be.

75 - 65 = 10. 65 - 10 = 55

So 55 - 45 = 10.

45 - 10 = 35.

So either B or C work technically as both complete patterns. Which pattern they are asking for is up to you to guess. the problem is not knowing the number after 35. If it was 65, then the answer is C. If it's 25, then the answer is B. One thing about pattern logic problems is sometimes they screw up on questions like that one.
