what tv would you guys recommend for a college dorm?

im thinking 26-30 inch and flat screen and widescreen...

anyone have any they recommend...i prefer non lcd as i dont want to cost too much and dont want to worry about it

thanks for the help in advance

If you're bringing a computer, like that fine one listed in your sig, get yourself a WinTV PVR-250. 🙂
Less stuff to lug around, less space taken up in the dorm room, and you can do video capture and timeshifting.

well im bringing my computer but i watch tv while im on it...so i would really like a seperate unit...i always have it on while im studying and working on papers and such...

for a college dorm it is really simple
If you are in a room either get a cheap 13" to 20" TV...
If you have a living room (aka an apartment style setup) go to walmart and by the cheapest (well maybe not the cheapest, but cheap) 25" to 27" you can find.

there is one key here, cheap...
odds are this thing is going to get beat to hell over the next couple of years.
Also, you will find stuff to better spend the money on, like books... and tuition which will inevitably double (not quite but it seems that way) by your 3rd year in school.

Yeah I wouldn't get a really nice one, as you will no doubt have idiot room mates who still casually refer to black people as "negroes" (seriously, it's like they're from 1950) and can't figure out how to use the previous channel feature or how to turn the volume down on an A/V receiver.

If your room mates grew up somewhere that didn't mimic the 1950s and they don't F stuff up all the time, go for it. But as dorm and even apartment space is limited, I'd save up and get a wall hanging flat screen. Non-flat widescreen HDTV tube televisions are ENORMOUS and very heavy.

An expensive flatscreen, wall-hanging, lightweight, easy-to-steal LCD or plasma screen TV? In a shared dorm room? Geez, I'm looking at going to college this fall, and one thing on my to-do list is to figure a way of padlocking the side panel on my case. Sure you can password protect everything, but CMOS reset jumper can accomplish a lot in that respect. And I don't want components walking away from me. Am I paranoid? Maybe. One unfortunate thing I've learned in life is that it may not be wise to fully trust someone you don't know.
